the blood sugar struggle
Like most diabetics my biggest challange is lowering my blood sugar. High blood sugar is the main cause of diabetic complacations. The high blood sugar causes blindness, loss of limbs, kidney failure just to mention a few . When I was first diagnosed I was given a pill to help lower my blood sugar. That didn't help atall. Then I started on my insulin after the pill failed. This was working but because I was on a sliding scale my blood sugar would have to rise before I took the insulin and this wasn't good. Recently I was given a twenty four hour insulin to take along with my sliding scale. This is when the real control began. I finally have tight control of my diabetes! This twenty four hour insulin is called lantus. With lantus one shot a day and my blood sugar became normal! I was shocked and amazed on how well lantus worked for me. Now in the am I take my lantus and after food if still needed I'll back it up with my other insuiln. This is called basal and bolas insulin regiment. The basal covers the blood sugar during the day then with meals the bolus is used. (I hope I didn't reverse that but you get the picture) since this regiment I no longer struggle with high numbers . Its really been a God send for me! So now I take my daily shots and I'm doing very well.thank God for insulin its really made a positive difference in my life!
